Ella : Elegant Light Linux Animator
demo files
1. A simple "happy birthday" to demonstrate text animation
Note : in order to see correctly the animation under editor, you must use same fonts (TTF) files.
I've made this animation to demonstrate how Ella can produce several transitions :
- text moving
- text rotating
Please note : some transitions are progressive (motion tweens) ; but,
there is a sudden appearance for "signed:me" block, it's a "jumping"
effect; see the timeline to know how to produce it.

2. A cool animation : a jumping (but cool) Tux behind grass, the wind in the grass and the songs of birds
After a mail from an user, I've
tryed to make a cool effect : wind on
grass. For that purpose, I use two image objects (twice the same basic
"grass" image, one on left side, one on right side), which are moved
smoothly from left to right to emulate wind effect (it's a motion tween
transition effect, see the timeline of this project).
See also the "sound" layer to learn to use sounds with Ella.

3. An animation to demonstrate how-to embed flash movies clips : "Matrix.ella"
I've just played with the famous "matrix" animation, it isn't perfect,
but you can learn how Ella embed "movie clips" (in compiled flash format) and produces a complex
flash file. The embedded movie clips are shown below by icons (you can
see 5 icons on top of editor).
For "matrix" animation, I've embedded 5 flash clips (swf files), and those clips
have different durations. So, when the new clip made by Ella is played,
the "Matrix letters" are never in same place, like in the movie (humm ,
I hope !)
Note that the 5 clips embedded are in the margins.
When you build the clips to embed, please note their width and height
in, pixels, and, then place where you want those "blocks" in your
Ella's scenario. For exemple, if each Movie Clips are of 45 pixels
width, you can choose plac the first at position x = 0, y =-45, the
second at x =46, y = -45, and so on ...

4. An animation based on text zooming/un(de)zooming effects : "our_os.ella"
With this clip project, I demonstrate how to mix, on several layers, text
animations. Please note that the appearance of each text is managed on a separate layer for each text. And also, see, that each layer has
time-shifted first key-frame :
- 0 sec for the first text
- 2 secs (at 12 fps) for the second text (2 secs = 12*2 = 24 frames)
- 3 secs (at 12 fps) for the third text

5. An animation using sounds and rotations : "vinyle.ella"
In this Ella
Project, we are playing with this idea : simulation of an old analogic
sound player. For that purpose, this project show you (please see the
layers on timeline) several tips :
- how you can use layers to
"hide" some non-desired artifacts (notice, please, how the arm of the
player is hidden, simply according to the order of layers)
- how you can mix sound layer (in green) and standard layers (in gold)
- how you can use rotations with "image objects" (the disc itself) and "vector" objects (the arm itself)

6. An animation using buttons and scripts : "europa.ella"
In this Ella
Project, we are playing with buttons objects and scripts (ActionScripts(tm)).
Before anything else, I STRONGLY recommand you to jump to this page, where I explain how to set-up scripts whith Ella.
Here is our goal : build a nice (humm, I hope !) animation to access to
the three main political areas of Europa Union : the Parliament, the
Commission (it's the Europa's government) and the Central Bank (where
is the economical power).
As a joke, we're rotating the Euro symbol ; around
this rotating symbol, you can find 3 small stars, like in the Europa
Union's flag. Move your mouse hover those stars, and see what happens.
Much more : click on one of those 3 stars, and you can see your web
browser opens a new window and jump to the relevant Europa Union
website.

7. An advertisement using multiple layers and a button with a text : "sea_n_sun.ella"
I've tryed to adapt to Ella
Renaissance a cool tutorial from a "Flash" french manual. It's a
complex project, with more than ten layers, multiple key-frames. Please
note several tips :
- usage of "blank" (empty) keyframes in order that some text areas disapear.
- usage of a 'text button' ;
it's a trick and tip for Ella ! First, set-up a box and convert it to a
button. Build another layer, and, then, put a 'text' area over the
previous 'box button' ; that's all, and it works. When the user clicks the button, the web browser open a new window, and go to "Martinique" islands site.
First screenshot : please notice complexity of that project

8. A cool skater : "skate.ella"
In this file, Doudoulolita from ubuntu.fr forum tryed to manage simultaneously movement and zooming effects :
the small skater moves along the central line of the road, and his size
reduces when his moves away from our eyes. You can also find here a complete tutorial (in french) in order to understand how that animation was made.
